Effect of Sowing Time and Plant Growth Regulators on the Flowering , Seed Yield , and Qualithy of Radish (Raphanus Sativus L.)

Abstract

|
This experiment was attempted to control the flowering time and to increase seed yield and seed quality in F₁ production of radish. Two cultivars, Tokinashi and Seoul-bommoo were used as experimental materials. The former was sown on Jan. 19 and was treated with gibberellic acid, the latter was sown on Jan. 19 and Mar. 11 and was treated with CCC and B-9, respectively. The flowering time in each control of Tokinashi and of Seoul-bommoo sown on Mar. 11 was almost the same(only 3 days difference), but the seed yield and the hybrid seed ratio were low. GA treatment on Tokinashi shortened by 18 days the time from seeding to flowering. So, the flowering time was almost the same that of Seoul-bommoo sown on Jan. 19. The seed yield of this combination was about 46% more and the hybrid seed ratio higher than that of the combination with different sowing time treatment.
